Judicial Council projects often result in changes to statutes or Supreme Court Rules. These changes can affect litigators, the judiciary, and the public. The Council routinely solicits feedback from interested stakeholders on these important projects. Those projects will be found on this page.
The Council requests that any individual or organization that wishes to provide feedback on the project do so during the open comment period and by using the formal open comment process.
The Open Comment Process:
- The project and any other necessary documents will be posted to this page by the Council.
- The open comment period will be clearly identified (i.e. April 1, 2025 - April 31, 2025). The last day ends at midnight.
a. Submissions cannot be made after the open comment period closes.
- Interested parties should click the link provided for open comment and follow instructions. Both individuals and groups can make submissions. Documents may be uploaded as part of a submission.
- Submitters will receive a copy of their submission once complete.
- The submitted comment will be publicly posted on this page within 48 hours of submission or a reasonable period of time based on staff availability.
The Council will consider all feedback prior to moving forward with a project, reserving the right to make changes or adjust anticipated deadlines based on feedback received. Be advised that any content provided to the Council will be maintained by the Council and may be incorporated into the project (for example, a comment made may later be cited in a petition to the Supreme Court). The Council reserves the right to refuse to publish any commentary that is profane, discriminatory, or otherwise violates the laws of the State of Wisconsin.
